History of the Devotions

The Devotion to Our Lady of Peñafrancia, started in 1710, when a Fr. Miguel Robles de Covarrubias commissioned a small chapel at the foot of Mt. Isarog, and a small image to be enshrined in it. It has since grew to becoming the largest Marian Devotion in Asia.

The Devotion to the Divino Rostro began in 1883, when Nueva Caceres was threatened by the Cholera Morbo epidemic. Through his mercy, the City was saved from the disease, and since then, the Divino Rostro is venerated together with Our Lady of Peñafrancia.
